Ewing tumor-associated antigen 1 activator of ATR kinase (ETAA1) is a protein involved in the cellular response to replication stress and DNA damage, where it accumulates at sites of DNA damage and stalled replication forks, promoting fork progression and integrity. ETAA1 directly stimulates ATR kinase activity by interacting with the RPA complex, independently of the canonical ATR activator TOPBP1, and regulates a subset of ATR targets. ETAA1 participates in positive regulation of protein serine/threonine kinase activity, cell cycle phase transition, and replication fork processing. Disease associations include certain immunodeficiencies and restless legs syndrome, and it is implicated in cancer biology as a part of the DNA damage response pathway[1][4][3].
