Exosome component 7 (EXOSC7)

Target
EXOSC7
Molecular classification
Exosome complex protein, Non-catalytic exosome core subunit, RNA-binding protein
01

Overview

Exosome component 7 (EXOSC7) is a non-catalytic subunit of the RNA exosome complex, a multiprotein assembly responsible for the 3' to 5' degradation of a wide spectrum of RNA species in both the nucleus and cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells[2][3][5]. EXOSC7 contributes to the structural scaffold of the exosome, supporting the catalytic activities of associated ribonucleases and facilitating RNA substrate binding and presentation. The exosome complex participates in essential biological processes, such as maturation and quality control of rRNA, snRNA, and snoRNA, elimination of aberrant or non-coding transcripts, and overall regulation of mRNA stability and turnover. Mutations or altered expression of EXOSC7 have been implicated in rare neurodevelopmental disorders such as pontocerebellar hypoplasia and have prognostic significance in certain hematologic malignancies, notably mantle cell lymphoma[2][5].
