Overview
The ED-B variant fibronectin is an alternatively spliced form of fibronectin (FN), a key extracellular matrix (ECM) protein that is highly expressed in the extracellular matrix of neovascularized tissues and malignant cancer cells. It is considered an oncofoetal domain and a specific marker of angiogenesis, with limited expression in normal adult tissues, making it an attractive target for therapeutic interventions. EDB+FN is involved in tumor growth, angiogenesis, and invasion, and serves as a biomarker and potential therapeutic target for various cancers.
