Target intelligence / Profile preview
The extra domain B splice variant of fibronectin (EDB+FN) is an alternatively spliced form of the fibronectin glycoprotein, a major component of the extracellular matrix (ECM). EDB+FN contains a 91-amino acid type III domain inserted between domains 7 and 8. It is highly expressed in the ECM of neovascularized tissues and malignant tumors, but its expression in normal adult tissues is low or absent. EDB+FN plays key roles in tumor growth, angiogenesis, and tumor invasion, making it an attractive target for drug delivery systems and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).
Payload release into the tumor microenvironment leading to direct cytotoxicity and enhanced immune cell infiltration. Bystander effect due to extracellular proteolytic cleavage near/in tumor stroma.
