Overview

Extracellular matrix protein 2 (ECM2) is a glycoprotein that is part of the larger group of extracellular matrix proteins[5][6]. ECM2 shares extensive similarity to other ECM proteins and may be expressed in a tissue-specific manner, including female reproductive organs and adipocytes, reflecting specialized roles in those tissues[5][6]. As with other ECM constituents, ECM2 contributes to the assembly, maintenance, and signaling functions of the extracellular matrix, which provides structural integrity, regulates cell behavior (migration, adhesion, and polarization), stores growth factors, and enables tissue repair and remodeling[1][2][3][4][7]. ECM2 itself is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, or direct drug target, and its direct roles in disease or therapy have not been definitively established; research on ECM proteins often explores their contribution to tissue function and pathology, including their influence on cell signaling and tumor microenvironment dynamics[5][6].
