F-box only protein 25 pseudogene (ENSG00000230092) is a non-coding genomic locus classified as a pseudogene in the human genome. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they are typically remnants of genes that have lost their ability to encode proteins due to mutations, premature stop codons, or exon-intron structure errors. This locus shows homology to protein-coding F-box genes but does not produce a functional F-box only protein. F-box proteins are normally components of E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes and are involved in targeting proteins for proteasomal degradation[2][4], but this function does not apply to the pseudogene locus. Consequently, it does not serve any established biological function, is not a known disease gene, and is not targeted by any drugs.
