Target intelligence / Profile preview
Factor Xa inhibitors are a class of anticoagulant drugs that selectively and reversibly inhibit the activity of clotting factor Xa, a key enzyme in the coagulation cascade. By blocking factor Xa, these agents prevent the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, ultimately inhibiting fibrin clot formation. They are used for the treatment and prevention of thromboembolic disorders, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation.
Selective and reversible inhibition of the active site of coagulation factor Xa, preventing the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin and subsequent fibrin clot formation.
