Target intelligence / Profile preview
FAM170B antisense RNA 1 (FAM170B-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 10 and is generally expressed at low levels across most tissues except for high expression in testicular tissue.[1] It is considered an antisense RNA to the FAM170B gene and participates primarily in the regulation of gene expression, likely through interactions with microRNAs and modulation of key signaling pathways such as PI3K-Akt, Ras, and MAPK, among others.[1] FAM170B-AS1 has been identified as a potential biomarker for breast cancer, with increased serum levels correlating with disease presence and clinicopathological features such as stage, grade, and lymph node metastasis.[1][2] It is also implicated in the risk and pathogenesis of other diseases (e.g., coronary artery disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, thyroid carcinoma), often through bioinformatically predicted networks involving microRNAs (such as miR-143-3p, miR-7-5p) and target genes (including KRAS, EGFR, PIK3CA, ESR1).[1] There are currently no direct drugs listed that target FAM170B-AS1, nor are there known mechanisms of drug action against it. However, as an lncRNA with diagnostic and possibly regulatory roles in various cancers, it could represent a future candidate for targeted therapeutic strategies or as a companion diagnostic biomarker.[1][2][3]
