Target intelligence / Profile preview
FAM124A, or Family with sequence similarity 124 member A, encodes a protein of uncertain function. Studies have found its expression is upregulated during severe pulmonary infection (notably Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia) and implicated in growth regulation in poultry. While associated with a “FAM124 domain,” it has not been classified as an enzyme, receptor, or any established drug target family. There are thousands of reported associations from transcriptomic, genetic, and phenotypic data, but its precise biological function remains to be clarified through further research. Currently, FAM124A is not a recognized therapeutic target, and no drugs or validated biomarkers are linked to its function in clinical medicine
