FAM124B is an emerging, largely uncharacterized protein found predominantly in the nucleus and nucleoplasm, and also in mitochondria[1]. It directly interacts with chromatin remodelers CHD7 and CHD8, implicating it in chromatin regulation, neurodevelopment, and disease processes such as CHARGE syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia[2][3]. Its expression is widespread in embryonic and adult mouse tissues, especially neural tissue, heart, and lung[4]. It shows significant methylation in hormone receptor–positive breast cancer and is associated with risk in metabolic/psychiatric conditions. No drugs target FAM124B, and its molecular function remains only partially described, with no recognized sequence domains or established roles for direct therapeutic intervention[1][3][4].
