Target intelligence / Profile preview
Family with sequence similarity 187 member B (FAM187B), also known as transmembrane protein 162 (TMEM162), is a human gene located on chromosome 19q13.12 encoding a predicted transmembrane protein of uncertain function[2][5][8]. It has a paralogous relationship to FAM187A, with which it shares sequence similarity but not a well-defined biological function. FAM187B is predicted, based on sequence and cellular localization studies, to be a membrane protein[2][5]. There are currently no validated biological roles, interacting drugs, or clinical uses for this protein. Diseases have been mapped to the gene in computational genomics resources, but without clear mechanistic insight or experimental evidence[5].
