Family with sequence similarity 215 member A (non-protein coding) (FAM215A) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene, not a protein-coding gene. It is also known as APR-2, C17orf88, LINC00530, or apoptosis-related protein 2. FAM215A has been shown to promote malignant phenotypes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), enhancing cell viability, relieving cell cycle arrest, and suppressing apoptosis. Knockdown of FAM215A in AML cell lines leads to cell cycle arrest and increased apoptosis, with changes in expression of apoptosis-related proteins. FAM215A expression is upregulated in AML, and it is correlated with cell proliferation and poor prognosis. It may also be associated with other malignancies, such as glioma and ovarian cancer, but currently, it is not established as a therapeutic drug target or receptor.
