Target intelligence / Profile preview
Family with sequence similarity 215 member B (FAM215B), also known as ARL17A-IT1, is a human long non-coding RNA gene defined as a non-protein-coding transcript located within the ARL17A gene locus[1][3]. Unlike ARL17A, which encodes an ADP-ribosylation factor-like GTPase involved in intracellular vesicle transport, FAM215B itself does not encode a functional protein and is classified as a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA)[1][7]. Recent computational studies have implicated FAM215B in competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks, suggesting a possible indirect regulatory role in diseases such as gout, via modulation of gene expression, but no experimentally validated biological function or therapeutic application has been established[7]. FAM215B is not recognized as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical therapeutic target, and there is no evidence of drug interaction or direct involvement in established pathological processes. Information about FAM215B remains limited, with current data primarily from bioinformatics analyses or gene annotation databases rather than functional studies.
None established; as a non-protein-coding transcript, therapeutic mechanisms targeting it have not been reported[1][7]
