Family with sequence similarity 221 member B (FAM221B) is a human protein-coding gene encoding a protein of largely uncharacterized function. It is also known by the alias C9orf128 and is expressed in various tissues, including the testis and many others[11]. Current evidence does not characterize it as a therapeutic target, as its precise biological functions remain under investigation. FAM221B may play roles in metabolic pathways associated with growth regulation and fat deposition and may also be functionally linked to autophagy processes based on protein–protein interaction predictions, but these roles are not yet definitively established[2][7]. There are no established small molecule drugs or therapeutic antibodies that specifically target FAM221B, and no safety concerns or biomarker usage have been reported. No direct evidence currently supports its utility as a therapeutic target or a biomarker for disease.
