Family with sequence similarity 224 member A (FAM224A) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is upregulated in glioma tissues and cell lines, where it promotes malignant progression by supporting cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while inhibiting apoptosis[1]. Functionally, it acts as a molecular sponge for miR-590-3p and is involved in a positive feedback regulatory network with transcription factor ZNF143 and RNA-binding protein A1CF, contributing to carcinogenesis. High FAM224A expression is associated with advanced glioma pathology and poor prognosis, making it a potential biomarker and a target of therapeutic interest in glioma[1].
