Family with sequence similarity 225 member A (FAM225A) is a cytoplasm-localized long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that acts as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA), particularly by sponging microRNA-326 and thus modulating the expression of PADI2, an oncogene implicated in gastric cancer. Elevated FAM225A expression is associated with increased proliferation, invasion, and metastasis in gastric cancer cells, higher tumor stage, and poor patient prognosis. While FAM225A is functionally important in tumor biology, it is not a receptor, enzyme, or classical drug target, and no drugs are known to interact with it. Its overexpression might serve as a biomarker for aggressive tumor behavior in gastric cancer[1][2].
