The FAM238C gene is found on human chromosome 10 and is also known by aliases related to genomic mapping and possibly past annotation as a lincRNA. Like other lincRNAs, FAM238C may regulate chromatin structure, transcription, or mRNA stability, although no specific biological function or mechanism has been demonstrated for this gene. FAM238C and related gene family members often carry highly repetitive AT-rich DNA translocation motifs and are particularly expressed in the testes. There are no known direct disease associations, drug interactions, or recognized uses as a biomarker or therapeutic target for FAM238C.
