Family with sequence similarity 74 member A3 (FAM74A3) is a poorly characterized gene encoding a putative protein of 159 amino acids. It has possible roles in cellular processes such as adhesion, migration, and proliferation. Mutations in FAM74A3 have been associated with increased risk of several cancers (including breast, ovarian, lung, and prostate cancer), intellectual disability, and autism spectrum disorder. There is currently no experimental evidence that FAM74A3 functions as a receptor, enzyme, or other canonical drug target, nor are there known interacting drugs or mechanisms of action. Its molecular family remains unclear, and it is not widely used as a biomarker or therapeutic target in clinical settings.
