Family with sequence similarity 90 member A19 (FAM90A19) is a primate-specific pseudogene belonging to the FAM90A gene family, which has arisen from multiple gene duplications and rearrangements in the primate lineage[1]. It is listed as a putative protein-coding gene, but its annotation as a pseudogene dominates, as no validated protein function or disease relevance has been established. \nMembers of the FAM90A family—including FAM90A19—are poorly characterized at the protein and functional level; there may be occasional RNA or peptide expression, but the significance remains speculative and mainly evolutionary[2][4][7]. \nPseudogenes like FAM90A19 might play a regulatory role by modulating gene expression via production of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), but there is no direct evidence for such activity in FAM90A19 itself[8]. \nNo clinical or therapeutic applications, safety concerns, or biomarker utilities have been described for this gene.
