Target intelligence / Profile preview
FAM98BP1 (Family with sequence similarity 98 member B pseudogene 1) is a genomic pseudogene related to the FAM98B gene. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but lack ability to encode functional proteins due to mutations, truncations, or genomic rearrangements. While FAM98B itself is a protein implicated in RNA metabolism and lysosome trafficking in specialized cells, FAM98BP1 does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes can be expressed as RNA and may have regulatory functions, such as acting as miRNA decoys, affecting gene expression epigenetically, or generating small regulatory RNAs. However, there is no evidence to date that FAM98BP1 plays a direct role in disease, or that it serves as a direct therapeutic target or drug anchor.
Not applicable. Drugs do not target FAM98BP1 directly.
