FAR2 antisense RNA 1 (FAR2-AS1)

Target
FAR2-AS1
Molecular classification
Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA, Noncoding antisense transcript
01

Overview

FAR2 antisense RNA 1 is a long noncoding RNA transcribed antisense to the FAR2 gene locus. As an antisense RNA, it is part of a class of RNA molecules that regulate gene expression by base-pairing with complementary RNA sequences, usually resulting in modulation of translation, transcription, or mRNA stability[1][4][7][13]. Antisense RNAs, including those classified as long noncoding RNAs, can function in a variety of regulatory processes through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNA silencing, or chromatin modification[4][13]. There is no evidence from current sources that FAR2-AS1 is a commonly recognized therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or is directly associated with pathology. Its specific biological role remains uncharacterized in publicly available annotation resources[6].
