Farnesyl diphosphate synthase pseudogene (FDPSP9) is a genomic DNA sequence that resembles the functional farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FDPS) gene but is non-coding and does not produce a functional enzyme. Unlike the active FDPS gene—which is crucial for isoprenoid biosynthesis, cholesterol/sterol pathways, and is a pharmacological target for several drugs—FDPSP9 has no known protein product, biological activity, or therapeutic relevance. Multiple FDPS pseudogenes are annotated in the human genome, but they do not serve as receptors, enzymes, or drug targets[2][4][8]. Key point: This target is *not a valid therapeutic target*; any biomedical or pharmaceutical relevance is due to misidentification with the active FDPS gene/protein. The pseudogene should not be confused with the functional farnesyl diphosphate synthase enzyme (FPPS/FDPS), which has established roles in metabolism and as a drug target[2].
