Target intelligence / Profile preview
Fat-specific Protein 27 (FSP27), also known as Cidec, is a member of the CIDE family of proteins. Primarily expressed in white adipose tissue, it localizes to lipid droplets and promotes the accumulation of neutral lipids by regulating lipid droplet size. FSP27 inhibits lipolysis by directly interacting with and inhibiting ATGL, thus promoting triglyceride storage. Its dysregulation is implicated in obesity, lipodystrophy, insulin resistance, and hypertriglyceridemia, suggesting a critical role in whole-body metabolism.
Direct interaction with and inhibition of ATGL (Adipose Triglyceride Lipase), leading to reduced lipolysis and increased triglyceride storage.
