Target intelligence / Profile preview
FABP4 is a cytosolic lipid chaperone highly expressed in adipocytes, playing a crucial role in fatty acid uptake, storage, and mobilization. It is also involved in regulating inflammation and is associated with various metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. FABP4 facilitates the trafficking of nonesterified fatty acids between cellular compartments and influences gene expression relevant to metabolism, inflammation, and lipid homeostasis.
Binding and transport of long-chain fatty acids and retinoic acid, influencing gene expression and interacting with lipolytic enzymes (HSL, ATGL).
