Target intelligence / Profile preview
Fatty acid binding protein 5 pseudogene 13 (FABP5P13) is a pseudogene related to the fatty acid binding protein 5 (FABP5) gene family. Pseudogenes are genetic sequences similar to functional genes but are non-coding and generally non-functional; they do not encode an active protein product. The human genome contains numerous FABP5-related pseudogenes, and FABP5P13 is one among at least 15 known for FABP5[5]. As such, FABP5P13 itself does not function as a protein, is not a therapeutic target, and has no recognized biological function, disease role, or drug interactions. It is sometimes referred to as "FABP5L13" or "fatty acid binding protein 5-like 13 (pseudogene)". There is no evidence that it is used as a biomarker or that it presents any safety or therapeutic challenges. Key assessment: - FABP5P13 is a pseudogene, not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target[5]. - It should not be considered a druggable or disease-associated target. - The functional protein in this family is FABP5, not FABP5P13[1][2][3][5]. - Entries for interacting drugs, mechanisms, biomarker status, or molecular functions are not applicable to this pseudogene. Errors and limitations: - Any therapeutic or functional attributions made to this pseudogene would be incorrect. - It appears you may be seeking information on a non-druggable, non-functional genomic locus. If you meant the functional protein (FABP5), see references for fatty acid binding protein 5[1][2][3][5][7].
