Fatty acyl-CoA reductase 1 pseudogene 1 (FAR1P1) is a pseudogene related to the fatty acyl-CoA reductase 1 (FAR1) gene, located on human chromosome 13[3]. Unlike the functional FAR1 gene, which encodes a peroxisomal enzyme involved in converting fatty acyl-CoA to fatty alcohols and plays an essential role in ether lipid biosynthesis and metabolic diseases[6], FAR1P1 does not encode a functional protein. As a pseudogene, FAR1P1 lacks the features and relevance of an active therapeutic target, and there is no known role in human biology, pathology, or drug interactions[3].
