FBL pseudogene 1 (FBLP1) is a human pseudogene formally named by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC). Pseudogenes are DNA sequences that resemble functional genes but typically lack coding potential due to sequence mutations, deletions, or interruptions. FBLP1 is annotated as a non-functional copy derived from the FBL gene, which encodes the nucleolar protein fibrillarin. Unlike FBL, FBLP1 does not produce protein and is not implicated in any known biological pathways, disease roles, or therapeutic contexts[2][4][5]. It is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical molecular target in biomedicine.\n\nIf a bona fide biological, regulatory, or disease link emerges in future research, FBLP1 could be reassessed, but current data categorically exclude it from relevant molecular target lists.
