Overview

FBXO16 antisense RNA 1 (FBXO16-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the FBXO16 gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs are increasingly recognized as important regulatory elements that can modulate the expression of their sense counterparts, influence chromatin states, or interact with other RNAs or proteins. However, current research has not reported specific structure, function, disease implication, drug interaction, biomarker status, or safety aspects for FBXO16-AS1. Most of the available literature focuses on FBXO16 (the protein), which acts as a tumor suppressor by targeting nuclear β-catenin for degradation in various cancer contexts[1][3][4][5], whereas its antisense RNA FBXO16-AS1 remains essentially uncharacterized in published research[2]. Clarification: FBXO16-AS1 is a valid gene name following genome annotation for antisense long non-coding RNAs, but, based on current results, lacks substantive functional or clinical data. This distinguishes it from FBXO16 (protein), which is established as a molecular target and cancer regulator[1][3][4][5]. Further investigation in primary, RNA-focused databases or literature may be necessary to obtain structured information on FBXO16-AS1 in the future.
