Mechanism of action

Binding of antibody-antigen complexes to the extracellular domain of the Fc receptor triggers intracellular signaling cascades that activate immune effector functions such as phagocytosis and ADCC. Some receptors have activating motifs like ITAMs; others have inhibitory motifs like ITIMs that modulate immune responses.
