Target intelligence / Profile preview
Fc receptor-homolog 5 (FCRL5) is a type I transmembrane protein primarily expressed on mature human/mouse B lineage lymphocytes. It binds intact glycosylated human immunoglobulin G via a unique mechanism involving both Fab arms and the Fc region. Through its cytoplasmic ITAM/ITIM motifs it can modulate downstream signaling pathways that regulate proliferation or inhibition upon ligand engagement. Its expression marks distinct functional subsets within circulating tissue-like memory (TLM) populations—especially those expanded during chronic infection or autoimmunity—and it plays roles relevant to disease pathogenesis as well as being implicated in certain hematologic malignancies.
