FCF1 pseudogene 6 (FCF1P6)

FCF1 pseudogene 6 (FCF1P6) is a nonfunctional copy of the FCF1 gene, classified as a pseudogene[5]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; most lack the ability to encode proteins and generally do not have direct physiological or pharmacological significance[5]. While some pseudogenes can regulate parental or related genes through competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) or miRNA decoy mechanisms, no such regulatory role has been established for FCF1P6 specifically[2]. FCF1 itself encodes a protein involved in ribosome biogenesis and RNA binding, but FCF1P6 does not produce a functional protein[1][3].
