Fel d 1-specific CD4+ T cell receptors are immunoreceptors expressed on the surface of CD4+ T lymphocytes that specifically recognize peptide antigens derived from Fel d 1—the major cat allergen—presented by MHC class II molecules. These T cell receptors initiate and regulate allergen-specific immune responses, most notably by promoting a Th2-polarized adaptive immune reaction that underlies IgE-mediated cat allergies and allergic asthma[1][2][3]. Fel d 1-specific T cells demonstrate a distinct memory Th2 molecular signature compared to T cells reactive to other antigens[3]. In allergen immunotherapy, desensitization may involve modulation of Fel d 1-specific T cell responses[3].
