Overview

This target group comprises the immunological antigens derived from three major feline pathogens: Feline Rhinotracheitis Virus (Feline Herpesvirus 1), Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Panleukopenia Virus (Feline Parvovirus). These antigens are the primary components of the core feline vaccine, commonly abbreviated as FVRCP. Feline Rhinotracheitis Virus and Feline Calicivirus are the leading causes of upper respiratory infections in cats, characterized by sneezing, nasal discharge, and oral ulcerations. Feline Panleukopenia Virus is a highly contagious parvovirus that causes severe gastrointestinal disease, bone marrow suppression, and high mortality rates, particularly in kittens. The antigens, which may be presented as modified-live or inactivated viral particles, serve to prime the feline immune system to recognize and neutralize the respective viruses upon natural exposure. Vaccination with these antigens is standard veterinary practice to prevent significant morbidity and mortality in domestic and wild felids. This entry is considered incorrect as a single target because it represents a combination of multiple distinct viral entities rather than a single molecular receptor or enzyme.
