Fentanyl

Molecular classification
Synthetic Opioid
01

Overview

Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid analgesic, structurally related to morphine but 50–100 times more powerful. It is used medically for pain management and anesthesia, but also appears illicitly in the drug market, often mixed with other substances. Its high potency means even small dosing errors can cause fatal respiratory depression. Accidental exposure—even through skin contact—can be hazardous due to its potency.
