FER1L6 antisense RNA 2 (FER1L6-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA gene located at chromosome 8q24.3 (chr8:124044395-124171529, hg38), also known as C8orf78 and FLJ32770, among other names[2][5]. This gene does not encode a well-characterized protein and is annotated in several databases as a putative or uncharacterized non-protein-coding transcript[5][6]. While a recombinant protein corresponding to part of its sequence is available for experimental purposes, there is no validated evidence that FER1L6-AS2 functions as a protein in vivo[3]. Its molecular classification fits the family of long non-coding RNAs, which are often implicated in regulation of gene expression, although specific biological roles, disease associations, or clinical relevance for FER1L6-AS2 have not been clearly described in the scientific literature to date[6]. There are currently no known drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarker uses, or major safety concerns associated with this target.
