Ferredoxin 1 pseudogene 1 (FDX1P1) is a human pseudogene identified as a non-functional duplicate of the ferredoxin 1 (FDX1) gene. It does not encode a functional protein and has no known direct biological or medical role. Pseudogenes like FDX1P1 often arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and can be found in the human genome, but they generally do not serve as direct therapeutic or diagnostic targets. The functional protein, ferredoxin 1 (FDX1), is a mitochondrial electron transfer protein involved in steroid, vitamin D, and bile acid metabolism, but FDX1P1 itself does not perform these functions. FDX1P1 is a non-coding pseudogene, not an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or other recognized drug target. No biological functions, disease implications, or drug interactions are directly associated since it does not produce a functional protein. Inclusion of FDX1P1 as a therapeutic or drug discovery target would be incorrect.
