FGF14 antisense RNA 2 (FGF14-AS2) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the FGF14 gene locus on chromosome 13q33[1][4]. It is predominantly cytoplasmic and functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), sponging miR-370-3p and allowing upregulation of FGF14, its sense transcript, which acts as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer[1]. FGF14-AS2 expression is significantly downregulated in breast cancer tissues; lower levels are associated with advanced clinical stage and poorer overall survival[1][2]. Overexpression of FGF14-AS2 inhibits breast cancer cell migration, invasion, and lung metastasis in preclinical models, supporting its proposed tumor suppressor role and highlighting its promise as a prognostic biomarker and a possible therapeutic/nucleic acid drug target in oncology research[1][2][4].
