FH2 domain-containing protein 1 (FHDC1) is a member of the formin protein family, characterized by the presence of Formin Homology 2 (FH2) and other domains, and is involved in the regulation of the cytoskeleton. FHDC1 has been shown to act as a microtubule-associated formin, playing a role in both actin and microtubule dynamics; it is capable of inducing microtubule acetylation and stabilization as well as promoting the formation and organization of actin stress fibers. It functions primarily in cytoskeletal reorganization and cell structure regulation. There is no substantial evidence that FHDC1 is currently considered a direct therapeutic target, nor are there known therapeutic drugs targeting it, nor documented biomarker or safety concerns directly related to its modulation. Note: - FHDC1 (FH2 domain-containing protein 1) is distinct from FHOD1 (FH1/FH2 domain-containing protein 1); both are formins but are separate gene products. - Some included alternate names like "INF1" and "KIAA1727" are gene-derived identifiers or old names for the same gene/protein product.
