Overview

Fibrin is an insoluble, fibrous protein derived from fibrinogen by the action of thrombin during the coagulation cascade, critically involved in forming stable blood clots at sites of vascular injury[4][5][2][1]. Fibrin serves as the scaffold for tissue repair and is ultimately removed by fibrinolysis[4][1][3]. Dysfunction in fibrin formation leads to bleeding disorders or pathological thrombosis.
