Overview

Fibrin and inflammatory exudate proteins constitute the proteinaceous components found in blood clots and inflammatory fluids. Fibrin is a structural protein formed from fibrinogen through the proteolytic action of thrombin, serving as the primary scaffold for hemostasis and tissue repair (StatPearls, 2023). Inflammatory exudate is a protein-rich fluid that escapes from the vasculature into interstitial spaces during the acute inflammatory response, often containing high concentrations of fibrinogen, globulins, and cellular debris (NCBI, 2022). The accumulation of these proteins can cause localized edema and hinder the resolution of inflammation by obstructing microcirculation. Therapeutic intervention typically involves the administration of proteolytic enzymes, such as trypsin-chymotrypsin or serratiopeptidase, which catalyze the hydrolysis of these proteins into smaller, soluble peptides (PubChem, 2024). This process helps to reduce tissue swelling, alleviate pain, and promote the clearance of inflammatory products.
