Fibrinogen silencer-binding protein (FSBP)

Target
FSBP
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, DNA-binding protein (contains Myb/SANT-like DNA-binding domain)
01

Overview

Fibrinogen silencer-binding protein (FSBP) is a nuclear transcription factor that down-regulates expression of the gamma chain of fibrinogen, a plasma glycoprotein essential for coagulation. FSBP is implicated in feedback regulation of inflammatory and cytokine signaling pathways, particularly the JAK/STAT axis. In cancer biology, FSBP acts as a suppressor of tumor migration and metastasis by inhibiting the JNK pathway. There is evolutionary conservation between FSBP in humans and the Drosophila gene Apontic (Apt), with functional relevance in developmental biology and cell differentiation. FSBP may have roles in diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular conditions related to fibrinogen levels
