Overview

Fibroblast growth factor 7 pseudogene 1 (FGF7P1), also known as HsT283, is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-coding DNA sequence related to the functional FGF7 gene. It does not encode a functional protein nor serve as a receptor, enzyme, or other druggable molecular target. Unlike the functional fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF7), which plays important roles in epithelial cell growth and tissue repair, FGF7P1 has no demonstrated biological function, clinical relevance, or therapeutic applications. Its presence in the genome may have minor regulatory effects but it is not considered a valid drug target. FGF7P1 is not the same as FGF7 (Keratinocyte growth factor), which is a therapeutic target and growth factor with significant biological roles in cell proliferation and wound healing. FGF7P1's designation as a pseudogene means it is generally excluded from structured therapeutic target databases and not tracked for drug development. This entry should not be used for drug targeting, molecular mechanistic studies, or disease association unless future research reveals regulatory or other functions, which is currently unreported.

Other names
HsT283
02

Mechanism of action

None (No mechanisms of action for drugs because it is not a functional target)

03

Biological functions

Other (Pseudogenes may have regulatory roles, but FGF7P1 does not have established biological functions like cell signaling or receptor activity)
04

Disease associations

Other (No well-established disease association or roles; unlike functional FGF7, which is involved in cell proliferation and wound healing, FGF7P1 does not have a known disease role)
