Target intelligence / Profile preview
Fibroblast growth factor-binding protein 2 (FGFBP2), also known as KSP37, is a secreted serum protein predominantly produced by cytotoxic lymphocytes such as cytotoxic T cells[4][7][8]. It belongs to the family of FGF binding proteins that regulate the bioavailability and activity of fibroblast growth factors by binding and modulating their signaling pathways[1][4][7]. FGFBP2 is implicated primarily in immune responses, where it may play a role in cytotoxic lymphocyte-mediated immunity[4][7]. Elevated levels of FGFBP2 have been associated with immune-related diseases such as asthma and have also been linked to certain cancers, including cervical adenosquamous carcinoma[4]. Unlike classical receptors or enzymes, FGFBP2 acts as a soluble modulator by binding extracellular FGFs and influencing their biological effects in various tissues, particularly in the context of immune regulation and potentially tissue repair[1][4][7][8]. There are currently no approved drugs that target FGFBP2 directly, nor is it a widely used biomarker in clinical practice, but its roles in immunity and FGF modulation make it a molecule of interest for further research into cancer, inflammation, and immune disorders[1][4][7].
No direct approved drugs known; mechanism would be via modulation of FGF signaling if targeted
