Overview

Fibroblast growth factor ligands (FGFs) are a family of polypeptide growth factors that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, morphogenesis, and tissue patterning. There are 18 canonical FGF ligands in humans that bind and activate fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs). These ligands play crucial roles in embryonic development, tissue repair, and angiogenesis. Aberrant expression or activation of FGFs is implicated in developmental disorders and tumorigenesis, making them important drug targets.
