Fibronectin type-III domain-containing protein 3A (FNDC3A) is a large membrane-associated protein expressed in humans, encoded by the FNDC3A gene. It features a proline-rich N-terminus, nine fibronectin type-III (FnIII) domains, and a hydrophobic carboxy-terminal region that likely serves as a membrane anchor[1]. FNDC3A is involved in mediating adhesion between spermatids and Sertoli cells during spermatogenesis, enabling the proper development of male germ cells[1][2][6]. Subcellularly, it localizes to the Golgi apparatus, intracellular membranes, and is expressed in round and elongating spermatids, Leydig cells, and endothelial cells in the testis[1][3][4]. Although its precise mechanisms and disease associations remain insufficiently defined, it is important for male fertility and cellular membrane dynamics[2][3][4][6]. Currently, FNDC3A is not recognized as a therapeutic target, has no known interacting drugs, and is not established as a biomarker.
