Target intelligence / Profile preview
Fibronectin type III domain-containing protein 9 (FNDC9) is a human protein encoded by FNDC9 located on chromosome 5. It contains fibronectin type III domains, which are commonly found in proteins of the extracellular matrix and cell adhesion, but the specific function, physiological role, or disease relevance of FNDC9 remains undetermined. Its expression is confirmed at the protein level, yet there is no experimental evidence for a biological role, molecular function, or direct involvement in disease processes other than a reported association with spinocerebellar ataxia 14.
