Overview

The fibrosis pathway is a complex network of cellular and molecular processes that lead to the excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) components, resulting in tissue scarring and hardening. This process is primarily driven by myofibroblasts, which are activated in response to chronic injury or inflammation. Key mediators include TGF-β, Wnt/β-catenin, and CTGF. Dysregulation of this pathway can cause progressive organ dysfunction and failure.
