Target intelligence / Profile preview
This gene encodes a non-functional pseudogene related to the fibrous sheath CABYR-binding protein family, which, in other members, is associated with sperm flagellum structure in humans[1][4][7]. As a pseudogene, ENSG00000264040 does not produce a functional protein and displays sequence homology to the functional fibrous sheath CABYR-binding protein but is disabled by mutations, truncations, or other genomic alterations that prevent protein production[2][3][5]. Pseudogenes typically do not have a direct biological or therapeutic role but, in limited cases, may exert regulatory effects through noncoding RNA transcripts; however, there is no evidence that ENSG00000264040 is functional in this regard[5][6].
