Overview

FKBP prolyl isomerase 4 pseudogene 2 (FKBP4P2) is a non-functional genomic sequence related to the FKBP4 gene, which encodes FK506-binding protein 4, a member of the immunophilin family with peptidyl-prolyl isomerase activity[4][5]. FKBP4P2 itself does not produce a functional protein and is not associated with receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other molecular target activity relevant to therapeutics or biology[4][5]. It is catalogued in genome annotation resources as a pseudogene found on chromosome 9 (chr9:39631046-39632416)[4]. There is no evidence that FKBP4P2 serves as a drug target, molecular biomarker, or disease-related gene. In summary, FKBP4P2 is not a therapeutic target and is correctly classified as a pseudogene. The actual functional protein in this family is FKBP4 (FK506-binding protein 4), but FKBP4P2 does not encode this protein and does not serve as a target for drugs or disease research[4][5].
