FKBP prolyl isomerase 9 (FKBP9)

Target
FKBP9
Molecular classification
Enzyme (peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase), Molecular chaperone, FK506-binding protein family member (immunophilin family)
01

Overview

FKBP prolyl isomerase 9 (FKBP9) is an enzyme of the immunophilin family, characterized by peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase activity and predicted calcium ion binding[5][1][4]. As a member of the FKBP protein family, FKBP9 is involved in regulating protein folding and may also play roles in calcium signaling within the cell[1][5][4]. While FKBP family members are established molecular targets for immunosuppressive drugs (such as tacrolimus and rapamycin), FKBP9 itself has not been directly associated with clinical therapeutic targeting or major disease roles[1][3][5]. The gene encoding FKBP9 is present on human chromosome 7[5].
